Experiência

Holistic Asset Management

Reliability Engineer

Set/2024 - Atual

Breve descrição da atividade:

  • Currently leading the maintenance readiness project of a greenfield gold processing plant, after almost two years embedded within a major coal mine in Central Queensland supporting Fixed Plant (CHPP) and Draglines.

  • Maintenance Readiness, Greenfield Gold Mine:
    - Drove the development of the plant's functional hierarchy, PM plans, and recommended and critical spare parts list, covering close to 240 production critical assets.
    - Led client meetings, weekly progress reports, and workload distribution across the project team.

  • Fixed Plant and Draglines, Coal Mine (Central Queensland):
    - Developed Work Instructions as part of a major SAP maintenance strategy program, engaging Maintenance Execution teams to gather operational inputs and handing over finalised instructions to Master Data for implementation in SAP.
    - Developed comprehensive reliability reports by extracting and cleansing historical data from SCADA and CMMS systems, calculating KPIs (availability, utilisation, MTBF, MTTR, OEE) aligned with the Time Usage Model, and applying Pareto and Jack Knife Diagrams to classify chronic and acute failures.
    - Facilitated weekly cross-functional Defect Elimination meetings with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Process teams, driving prioritisation of reliability improvements and follow-through of corrective actions.
    - Reviewed Asset Criticality Assessments, ensuring prioritisation of maintenance strategies and alignment with asset performance and risk exposure.
    - Developed FMEAs and preventive maintenance work instructions for critical fixed plant assets, integrating OEM recommendations, failure history, and operational data.

Vale

Senior Reliability Engineer

Nov/2023 - Jul/2024

Breve descrição da atividade:

  • Senior Reliability Engineer responsible for the haul-truck fleet at Serra Leste Mine, within Carajás Mining Complex, with a focus on defect elimination and reliability improvement.

  • Led the defect elimination process across a 44-truck fleet, extracting and cleansing downtime data weekly, updating KPI trends (Availability, Utilisation, MTBF, MTTR), applying Pareto analysis and 5-Whys to identify root causes, and presenting findings and action plans to a multidisciplinary group in structured weekly cadence meetings.

  • Drove RCAs triggered during the defect elimination process for both chronic and acute failure modes, coordinating cross-functional investigations with maintenance, operations, and OEM representatives to develop corrective and preventive action plans and share learnings across the team to prevent recurrence.

  • Conducted weekly Safe Act Observations and field inspections across maintenance and operational activities to identify process and behavioural gaps, translating findings into corrective actions.

  • Implemented monthly QA checks using safety and performance data to verify compliance against operational and statutory standards, coordinating with field auditors and following up findings to closure.

  • Developed a risk heat map for major powertrain components based on operating hours and risk rate derived from predictive and condition-based inspections, providing visibility of risk exposure and reducing the likelihood of catastrophic failures through the prioritisation of inspection notifications into the maintenance schedule.

  • Supported component lifecycle planning by developing a yearly replacement plan for major powertrain components based on operating hours, failure history, and condition data, reviewing minimum stock levels to ensure critical parts availability and reduce run-to-failure exposure.

  • Key Achievements:

  • - Played a key role in improving availability of the mine-to-rail transport fleet, the main production bottleneck across the entire operation, from below 60% to consistently above 70%, and the mine truck fleet from below 70% to approximately 80%, by leading the defect elimination process, conducting structured failure analyses, and driving cross-functional corrective actions.

  • - Led the operational readiness program for 16 new hauling trucks (AUD 4.8M), covering technical specification development, evaluation of technical and commercial proposals, definition of preventive maintenance plans, spare parts strategies, training programs, and on-site commissioning, including vendor factory visits to follow up progress.

AngloGold Ashanti

Planning and Reliability Engineer

Jan/2021 - Nov/2023

Breve descrição da atividade:

  • Planning & Reliability Engineer responsible for the underground HME fleet, including LHDs, haul trucks, jumbos, fandrills, and other auxiliary equipment at Mineração Serra Grande, an underground gold mining complex comprising three mines, covering reliability engineering, maintenance planning support and asset lifecycle management.

  • Conducted the defect elimination process by analysing weekly KPIs using Pareto Charts and Jack-Knife Diagrams to identify chronic and acute failures and led root cause analyses, coordinating corrective and preventive actions.

  • Coordinated the fluid condition monitoring (SOS) process, providing technical guidance to condition monitoring analysts on sample interpretation and supporting predictive maintenance decision-making based on analysis results.

  • Acted as the HME Safety Guardian within the Major Hazard Control Standards (MHCS) framework, verifying the effectiveness of critical safety controls, identifying compliance gaps and driving the close-out actions.

  • Developed multi-year asset plans in collaboration with the planning team, using production forecasts, performance KPIs, and equipment age profiles to define future asset requirements and support CAPEX and OPEX planning.

  • Prepared zero-based pluriannual budgets for major component replacements based on historical performance data, failure patterns, and lifecycle cost analysis.
    Key Achievements:

  • Reduced MTTR of ground support jumbos by designing and implementing an autonomous maintenance program focused on non-complex preventive tasks, freeing up maintenance execution capacity for higher priority work.

  • Prepared a comparative life-cycle cost options assessment for end-of-lease CAT R1700K LHDs (buy vs lease extension with mid-life repair vs new purchase) to support financial decision-making.

  • Delivered an operational readiness project for 7 new underground HME assets (AUD 18.3M) using a DMAIC-structured approach, including cross-site benchmarking visits to other AGA operations to identify and incorporate engineering and maintenance improvements, development of maintenance strategies, implementation of a spare parts strategy with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), safety compliance verification, and coordination of OEM training programs. All assets exceeded planned availability targets during the first six months of operation.

  • Recovered approximately USD 350,000 in warranty claims for catastrophic HME powertrain failures, including a Caterpillar C18 engine, a Volvo PT2116 transmission, and Sandvik 123/59 axles, by building well-documented technical cases and coordinating with OEMs and dealers to confirm root causes.
